Opening in 2025!! 

The People’s Mansion is the BHC’s fifth permanently affordable cooperative, and our very first in Denver! In 2025 we will be seeking to fill this 19-bedroom Historic Mansion on Capitol Hill with low-income residents who make valuable contributions to the Denver community.  Move-in dates dependent on renovation timeline. Apply now to receive updates! All residents will share meals, buy food in bulk, and meet weekly to practice consensus decision-making and restorative conversations

 

Rent and Food Fees

Base Room Rent Starts at: $584 

Food Fee: $150-$200/month

Income Qualification

As an affordable housing provider with grants from the City of Denver, The People’s Mansion is required to certify that its residents meet certain local, low-income requirements. Rent is based on the room and your income. There are 19 rooms in the building that need to fall under the following income caps:

*These numbers are based on a one-person household. Married couples or people with dependents will have slightly different numbers. 

**These caps are for 2024 and will increase slightly for 2025. The rents will stay the same in 2025.

Potential residents will need to provide 3rd party verification (such as pay stubs or letter from employer) of current local or remote income that fits within the required ranges for their desired room. Savings and student loans do not qualify. Read more about our income qualification process here. 

The five rooms at 80% each have either their own private bathroom or office.

Application

Residents cannot move in until after critical safety construction is complete (sprinklers, asbestos, etc.) Construction is set to begin in April. 

A limited number of bedrooms will be available in May for reduced rent while construction takes place. 

Construction is intended to be complete by September at the house filled by the end of the year.
